I noticed Trails subscription offer this month was a  Markill peak Ignition Stove

I checked my subscription and mine was due for renewal. No prizes for guessing what I'm getting!

Remove the peizo ignition (it's going to fail sooner or later anyway) and it's a cracking stove.

One of the best gifts I've seen from Trail.

mmm, I got spanked by them last year , a cold call and I got three issues for a pound , unfortunately I did not realise that I was taking out a subscription , and this was confused by a number of issues not arriving , and with me working away I lost track of it all .

I have since cancelled my subscription at the bank , this mag still came  though !

Quite often there is nothing in that I want to read , so I,m not sure a sub for me is any good , that said if you want a nice little stove you get 12 free mags thrown in .

Now I would bite thier hand off if they gave away free Kathoola crampons with a years  sub.

My brother had a problem subscribing to Trail a year ago, when he began receiving magazines but no free gift arrived. He followed it up with several emails and phonecalls to their parent company and eventually got some progress: Graham Thompson, their gear bloke sent him a personal letter apologising (though it was the distributors fault, not the magazine's) and he sent out with the letter the Gore-Tex gaiters originally promised. On top of that however, was a pair of Primaloft/Gore-Tex/leather-palmed mitts with removable liners (worth about £50 - outside of TK Maxx...) and an ex-test (ie. had been worn a bit was basically brand-new) Force 10 daysack, which is a beastly piece of kit: really lightweight, adaptable, loads of nice bits on it, can backpack overnight with it, and then you can cycle, run, walk or climb with it too.

All in all, ~£40 subscription = 13 mag issues, gaiters (~£25), mitts (~£50), 'sack (~£60)! So, if you don't get your gift at first, email, get pissed off, and then hope Santa comes very early.

if anyone wants £10 off a subscription try this link.

Drops it to £35 for the subscription with the stove thrown in.

Not had too much luck with recent Trail subscriptions. A little while ago I took one out which was supposed to get me a Petzl e+lite, which I only received six months later after many e-mails and telephone calls, and the personal intervention of GT. This year I took out the subscription with a Camelback as a gift, and that hasn't arrived after about a month. Hope I don't have to chase that up as well...

I also have had problems with the subscription. Later last year I subscribed and waited for 3 maps of the Lake District. I eventuallyt got a letter stating that my subscription was received past the closing date (which it wasn't by at least 3 weeks) and that "sorry but we are out of stock" - no mention of any replacement. I complained to the mag and to the company and after much moaning, exchanged emails and phone calls got 3 drybags many months later. I certainly won't be renewing and stick with getting it off the shelf

Are you sure you still get the free stove with that link?  There's no mention of the stove, and it's the same website...

Guy, I got my Camelbak within a week of phoning the subscription through, so they do have stock, but perhaps their admin needs a kick up the bottom sometimes.

Do indeed chase up the free Camelback offer I suggest, as I had to chase up my free subs gift a little while ago back, of a Firefly bottle top unit too, as there were supply problems with that item first off. Indeed rightly I too should have got the dry bags set first off promised to me, but never saw it although they claimed it had gone out to me in the post! I think that a rather dishonest postman still has it somewhere at his home maybe!I am still chasing my subscriptions gift with Camping magazine right now too! That is the camping cook set, a kind of a Trangia copy by Wynnester that is worth about forty quid. I have been awaiting that for weeks now, and am told that it is out of stock awaiting a new delivery supply there as yet! I am still awaiting my gift with Country Walking magazine sub too, of a dvd and a book! All that has arrived to me on that so far is a letter, in January this year, telling me they are now out of stocks of the dvd, and cannot get anymore of them-which is odd as they sure enough had them according to the girl taking my subs order, at the time I made it! It always seems to be that one does very much need and have to chase up these such magazine subscriptions offers to my experience!

Mine too arrived this morning.  Happy looking little gadget.  Am I mistaken in thinking you could unscrew the pietzo ignition system if it fails shaving even more weight from the stove?  Looks to be held in place by a single screw.

I took out my subscription last month with the Camelback and it came through before the next issue!

TGO will give you a free Bothy shelter if you take out a 2 year subscription....
