Aldi Specials this week include the outdoors gear. The Kendal Mint Cake is particularly good

So do Lidl from the 21st  Lidl walking stuff

I like the watch for the price ....

I would've thought cotton was a bad thing to be wearing whilst out walking?

Lidl compass "scale 1:50,000"  If your map is 1:25000, how will you know which way is North?

Just look for which side of the tree the moss is growing on.

Do they sell trees in Lidls? It would have to be a bonzai if you took it walking surely?

Possibly, but then again, they're using a Toray fabric for their waterproof.  Along with many other outdoor manufacturers.  Granted, they don't say which Toray fabric...

And Vibram soles for their boots...

Aaagh! too many Aldi/Lidl specials that I'm getting confused...

Of course, you mustn't buy any of this stuff:

a) it's probably made in China
b) it's not from an independent retailer...

PMSL

I suppose if its a cotton mix with a cotton feel but not a cotton performance they might be ok.

iirc my silkbody base layer has cotton in it somewhere.

Waiting with breath abated for the kiddies walking booties usually priced £2.99.Mine love theres but alas they keep growing.

Is my brother mad? He,s walked extensively in the Andes,Alps and Rockies and refuses to wear anythink but cheap cotton t-shirts as his base layer whatever I tell him about icebreakers.Last year after climbing alp money in Grand Paradiso on a hot day we had to stop while he rung his t-shirt out.

nothing wrong with cotton clothing in hot climates, we sweat, it obsorbes , keeps us cool. lovely!

not to be confused with nasty cold winters here of course.

Hi, does anyone know (or anyone wanna admit to knowing ) if all their stores stock all their weekly offers?  My nearest store isn't that big and i have to admit to wanting to check up on them coolmax t-shirts for a fiver..

If the main stream outdoor shops were not so expencive Aldi and Lidl would not be able to sell their stuff, which is not realy good  quality but you can afford to ripp a pair of the trousers on barbed wire  and feel a great loss in the wallet.

In response to the post from Fat Chef I have bought special buys in both the Midlands and London stores and availability seems the same.  If you check on the website this may give further info. The main problem you will have is the limited stock that each store has.  Once its gone its gone.  If you want a particular item try and get to the store as close to first thing this Thursday morning as you can, for example if you wait until the weekend you may be to late.

captain paranoia Says Lidl stuff is probably made in China. Where do you buy any hiking gear that isn't?

The base layers are fine

Probably nowhere chris, it was a 'tounge in cheek' reference to 2 other threads on here.
