I like both these stoves, the Optimus Crux

and the Markhill Peak

I like them both a lot i like the fact the markhill has ignition but i like the crux for its bigger burner and the way it fits in the hollow under a gas can.

What do you think ??? ( plz dont mention MSR pocket rocket i hate them, they have nothing over eather of these stoves but is bigger and flimsy.

markhill hands down, but only because its free if you subscribe to one of those outdoorsy mags

Another option may be the primus 'micron'. The pot supports are titanium and do not seem to go soft like steel pot holders can. Lighter than the crux as well.

I've had the Crux for a few years and it's a great wee stove. As you've said, it has a large burner which should make the boil time quicker. The fold over thingy is great. When folded it fits into the supplied pouch and a bungy holds it under a canister. 10 out of 10 from me. And it's cheaper than when i bought it!

I have the older version of primus micron with pz ingnition. It is GRRRREAT! Cheap too. Called mimer I think now, but mine is lighter.

Get the crux that doesn't fold as it is lighter than the folding version. I think the Markhill one is a little flimsy in the supports. Might be wrong, but the supports look like an old lightweight stove I had years ago that were flimsy. I have handled the crux and it is well made and robust for a small stove like these.

Don't get MSR pocket rocket, overrated and over pushed by outdoor shops when you mention lightweight.

The Markill supports are nice and substantial with good grips. Supports a 1l trangia pot with ease (with 800ml of water in). Feels rock solid.

my friend has a micron, he liked it at first but doesn't now ( Dan if u c this please explain why) if i got the crux id get the folding one. please carry on giving input if you have something to say.

I like the Markill nut thats only because thats the one I bought a while back. Its a great we stove.

I havent any experience with the Primus but by all accounts its pretty damn good aswell.

My point though is dont let the Markill's Piezo ignition sway you. Yes its handy and nice but it will break when you dont want it to. Personally I like the fact I can remove it. carry a back up whether its a firesteel or a cheap bic lighter but dont rely on the piezo.
