they look similar to paramo

I was in their shop last month and spent all my backpay
the stuff is Paramo made under licence to their own designs and you can get custom-made stuff; customised to your size, design needs, or both.
my new customised jacket arrived this week and it is fab and exactly made how I asked.
Cioch? can you link me to there site please

the materials on the outside of these jackets ( rennaisance and beachcomber) are they similar to the outside of paramo jackets with the silky velvet feel (cascada, aspira). or are they different.

Hi Lee. Was it you who sent me an anonymous email?

Sorry, but I don't respond to anonymous emails; the OM server doesn't tell me who it is unless you write your name at the bottom yourself, so I'll keep my email addy private unless I know who I'm sharing my details with. I don't like spam, that's all.

Anyways.

The fabric is just like Paramo stuff with 2 exceptions:

  • the beachcomber stuff under the arms of the Harta is even softer and more tactile
  • the Harta has a special version of a very soft cordura-type stuff on the shoulders and elbows.

Bit late:

I've got the Glamaig smock. It is brill! Just like Par&&& but made to measure and lighter. The Fionn and the harta are good too!

nodrog..u have harta jacket..?

im very interested in it...

can u tell me more about that jacket?

Show/hide user stats

Hi loo loo 2,

The Harta is a full on winter jacket. The material is as NJP describnes. it feels great and it fits like a glove (only round .................OK it fits perfectly!)

I only got irt a short time ago, so, I havn't worn it in full on winter conditions; but I've no doubt it will be superb. I've used the Fionn in Scottish winters and it has been superb. Just a base layer under for activity, and then a Paramo vest for resting. Great combination. The Harta should be just as good.

to nodrog

did u use harta already in heavy rain?

how it performance? is it ok to climb in it?(if u do climbing)

and until i keep the outer layer waterproof treated is there no problem with getting the whole harta too heavy? i mean after good heavy rain...?

and when outer layer is not too much treated with nikwax reproofing..is thee a big problem of getting wet?

Hi loo loo 3,

To be honest I havn't used it for real so to speak.

What I can say is that I bought it off the knowledge that both the Glamaig smock that I have, and the Fionn smock have performed so well.

The Glamaig, e.g. has endured a full on blizzard for 2-3 hours (last September, in Glenshee area) and kept me warm and dry with just a base layer. And that's a summer weight material! There was no problem with the material soaking up and getting heavy in heavy rain. The smocks/jackets are fully proofed when they arrive - water beads off.

The Fionn is basically the same material - except for under the arms - as the Harta. This has been well tested in full on hard stuff in Scotland. Magic! Again water beads off so it doesn't soak it up. The freedom of movement is great and I've scambled in it - as opposed to real climbing but it is excellent for climbing.

I got the Harta earlier this year cos' it was a jacket and it is so cool! The design has been tweaked and the big pockets are now behind the storm flaps (double). The hood design has changed a little - it can take a climbing helmet. And the handwarming pockets are well positioned. I missed out on this winter but can't wait to get back in the Scottish white stuff. Again, the freedom of movement is superb. E.g. the arms don't pull when you stretch up. It would be ideal for climbing.

It is yellow with black patches so I need to ensure I'm not caught up in a rescue in the Cairngorms...................cos the CMR Team use the same colours on basically the same jacket! So, how good a recommendation is that!

Did I say that I got the trousers too?

No I don't have shares or connections with Cioch. I just love gear that fits well, feels well, and performs so well..............and looks cool (unlike similar P**a*o gear).

Hey I got carried away there. I may now even take the Harta and hope for cool weather when I go back up to Scotland on thursday!

bassically ill going to use it from autumn till spring, and there are few nasty weather storms in here, and i supose there will be in north of europe as well-norway,denmark,iceland...and i want jacket that can handle days in heavy rain, rain with wet snow, scrambling, climbing, heavy backpacking, with not too much taking care of it,can handle heavy backpack for years,,and that jacket alone can lasts for years..

is harta the best choice? -i dont want gore-never used one,no eVent-i supose heavy backpack will demage it,and i prefer silent fabric ,

any other recomendations?

i still beleive harta would be the best for that sort of things,,,but one never know...

Is Harta the best choice?

In a word: yes.

Just ordered me a Black Glamaig - pit zips and helmet sized hood...

Hi TS,

Great choice! I've got a grey Glamaig smock - no pit zips. So...............now I am incredibly jealous!

There should be a Glamaig club. Such a fantastic piece of gear - light enough to carry (no fleece required) and fantastic performance. And fits like a glove.

I'm taking it and my harta to Scotland tomorrow - and praying for cool weather. I'll probably end up wearing the Glamaig for real and posing in the Harta in the evenings (when I'm not in a bothy or wild camping).

Nodrog.
