Inov-8 Roclite 295
Anyone got some?

I'm interested in these new shoes from Inov-8, which appear to have the general fit of the Terroc 330s but perhaps a bit more cushioning and maybe stronger mesh? The mesh on top is what has worn out first on all my 3 pairs of Terrocs!

Anyone got some Roclite 295s? What are they like? Specifically compared to the Terrocs?

(Later: asked a local shop to get some in for me, could be a while tho...)

I have a pair and have used them this week during a 5-day trip in the Auvergne (France) including mountain trails and multi day pack. They have a wider toe box than e.g. the Roclite 315's  but perhaps not that wide as the Terrocs  (but it has been a while since I last used Terrocs). The mesh definitely feels tougher than that of the Terroc but it's still too early to say something about durability. It's possible that drying times are a bit slower but I haven't experienced any real problems with that this week (including crossing large snow patches).

Frank: I can get them online no problem, but I want to be able to try them on, as I know the fit is a little different to the Terrocs, but how much I don't know, so I want to try 8.5 and 9.

The Inov-8 website lists retailers who are supposed to stock the various models: don't believe it! One local retailer had loads of stuff on their website, but guess what, they order in most of it "on demand". They would get specific stuff in for me to try, but if I didn't buy, they'd charge me £6 for the privilege...

However, Simply Sports have been *very* helpful indeed (their website doesn't really reflect what they do) and are arranging for the relevant sizes to get to my local shop, once Inov-8 get 8.5s from China and can send some along! It's a real pleasure when you find a company who genuinely put the customer first.

Quick update for anyone interested. Got the shoes today. First impressions:

1. Sizing is smaller than Terrocs (for Terroc 330s I'm UK size 8.5, the Roclite 295 was definitely too small in 8.5, the size 9 was fine for me; normal "town" shoes I'm 8 or more often 8.5).

2. Design is very similar to Terrocs, except: different sole, different mesh (hopefully stronger!), different lining. Toe box is similar size to Terrocs.

3. Underfoot cushioning is greater, mainly down to a different footbed I think. Hopefully this will make for happier feet after a day of hard paths/tracks.

Comfy out of the box, as expected. I'm wearing them round the office today to make sure I like them

Will try and remember to update this thread when I've had chance to test them in the great outdoors!
