Hi,

I am currently looking to buy a reasonably priced tent for camping during Summer in Ireland. I want something that can fit 4 people comfortably and also waterproof and windproof enough for Ireland. I think I have narrowed it down to either Vango Tamor 500 or Outwell Kansas 5. I would appreciate any feedback that you may have to give. Thanks

no comparison, the Vango is miles better (especially for 4 people), though it pains me to say it as I'm not really a Vango fan.

Thought the Outwell would probably (though not necessarily) be more sturdier in windy conditions, the Vango would be far more practical for 4 people

Thanks for the speedy reply. Good to know. Do you mind me asking why are you not a vango fan?

I don't know really, I just think they [Vango] like to give the impression (through their heritage) that they are a serious/technical brand when they clearly aren't.

I wouldn't let this be an issue here though as they make decent family tents, as do Gelert, Wynnster, Sunncamp and Outwell.

Thanks for your help Glyn. Happy camping.

Glyn is right, Vango are not really a seriously technical tent brand (though they do own Force Ten, who are), but they do offer good value for money for family tents. The Tamor should be fine for summer weather. Not the most stable design, and for the price you can't expect top quality materials, but you're unlikely to get much better without forking out a fair bit more.

Great, thanks guys

I have just bought a near identical tent from go-outdoors (£70).  Its not named the Tamour but it is identical other than colour.  In terms of size it would sleep 4 with ease and i can now put it up in about 20mins by myself.

I bought mine for me and my little son to get into camping so i wanted extra room (Car camping) and it has been fantastic so far.
