hi OMers. Im interested in getting a good 1man tent for a proposed LDP, probably C2C. Loads of folk have rated the Akto. The spacepacker seems similar, albeit a little heavier. Akto has a venting system, Spacepacker not known, but there are also so many othersingle hooped tents, it is truly bewildering. Weight, proven stability are the main criteria. Comments and opinions much appreciated.  Current light tent is the tadpole with a nylon inner (same as voyager, but weighs in at 2.2kg) I reckon Ishould be able to shave between 500+700 grams.

I confidently expect to start a thread on boots one day and then find the first reply is from someone who wants to know if I have considered this years range of fleeces for winter!

Glenn, the Akto is a fine hard as hell tent I would recommend to anyone looking for a single man all weather tent. Others have their opinions no doubt.

MD, thanks for your comments. I do like the T0, and missed out on one on ebay the other week. But for now, well this week at least, Im focusing my energies on single pole, but it does indeed read well!!

FB I believe there is a range of fleece linings for boots, or fleece camp booties, with rubberised sole Well were all entitled tour own thoughts. Thank you for your reassuring comments.

The organisation of space in an Akto is very good Glenn. I have just come back from  weekend camping with my little lad. We used my Nallo 2, and I have to say I prefer the organisation of the Akto which has a huge vestibule which is not offered by similar transverse pole designs.

The T0 is a straight out and inny type of tent which doesnt offer the same advantages.

But as you say each to their own.

Have you considered a 5 pole geodesic double poled construction with extended vestibule?

I guess glen you have to ask how much you'll be doing on your own, if its a week a year can you make do with less room on what boils down to spending twice the amount on a tent thats the same weight?

I'd love an atko but the wife would kill me if i spent that much on something that she couldnt get in with me!

beat you to it m.d ta anyway!

If you can spare the dosh matey - an Akto is a one man palace.

I thought the spacepacker was 2 man???

I dont rate the quality of the Saunders textiles and production as well as the Hilleberg. In fact Sauders is pretty shoddy - my last Saunders Satellite plus only lasted about 20 years bloody load of old crap.

Before someone has me drawn and quartered for that - yes 18 - 20 years from my Saunders - lasted really well.
