just tested out our new vango 400 tent.....disapointed !

the poles, once conected to the pins on the ground sheet do not form a half circle - more like a tube profile - even without guying ! the situation gets worse once any tension is applied.....seams like the tent has too many pole segments in each hoop, thus skewing the shape of the tent's design...

   help !

Are you sure you're getting the right poles in the right sleeves?  Do you have any photos so we could see the extent of the problem a bit better?  Do you mean that the poles are ending up being more than half a circle?  If so, from looking at the photos of the current Vango Albany on their website, it does seem that the tent is meant to be a bit like that.

My family have been using a similar style of Vango tent (the Diablo of about 8 years ago, which looks most similar to the current Albany 600) and the poles have always been fine and seemed 'normal'.

I'm thinking that maybe the wrong poles are with the tent. measure your poles fully  extended

Call AMG on 09018 140020  and confirm the specified pole lengths.

it's not beyong the realms of possibility that the Shop/the packers have mixed up a set of poles and you have the pole set for a 600 or even an 800.

I've got an oregon 400 for my 'biggy' family car camping tent and the poles on mine do bow out slightly then back in at the bottom (like the pic of the Albany above). Mind you, I can't why thats a problem? It creates a good useful living space, with limited amounts of 'dead' space that sloping sides create. Am I missing something?

thank you all for your speedy responses...

don`t have any photo's - poles are colour coded - blue poles to blue sleeve, grey poles to grey sleeve etc - so no problems there. i will get in touch with AMG with regard to measurements, just to be sure.

however after looking at the albany picture i think the 'bowing in' of the poles on our tent must be the intended design...the picture of the pitched tent on the bag insructions did not show this, hence the thread.

so........ no dead space but perhaps a bit of a wind trap and less stabillity...

i can live with that - better get out there again - a s a p  - just to check !

 thanks again ................... s h
