BBC2, tonight at 8pm, Paul Lister: The real monarch of the glen

I thought it was a reference to a new series of Red Dwarf. Never mind.

I thought it was a reference to a new series of Red Dwarf. Never mind. Well, fencing off a large part of Scotland does seem like something Arnold J Rimmer would do.

Its probably already been discussed to death but does anyone know if it would be practical to re-introduce large predators without creating this artifical setup, is there a sufficient area of wilderness and natural population of prey to support them? or has the way agriculture has developed made it impractical?
In future I'll be more careful hoping fences as I might just land into a Wolfie pen.
Ahhh....So thats how Lister is going to offset the cost of feeding his wolves, very economical.

The Daily Record gave 2 pages to Lister today. I'm sure the 'reporter' was his PR man. Biased, sycophantic reporting at it's worst. No mention of the other side of the argument. Lister is God according to the Daily Record.

not relevant but introducing, say, tigers onto the northern line would be a bonus.

Still up for the Alladale Fence Leatherman challenge if it comes to it Mike

As I don't have a telly, I'll miss this one. However, I would be interested to hear if the BBC give fair and equal coverage. In my experience, the BBC will do anything for money, such as criminalising innocent people, telling lies, covering up for each other when caught criminalising people or telling lies, and failing to investigate cover-ups, as well as being insulting, arrogant and pompous. I think in the past few weeks I've levelled all this at the BBC and they've gone off in a huff, coz they can't think of any adequate defence for themselves! Given the above, I'd be amazed if they could be unbiased.
Paddy - I guess it'll be on the BBC iPlayer after the 'show'.
Well for starters it would only appear to be on BBC2 Scotland...... don't know if iplayer offers that to the whole nation afterwards. I also notice it's listed as "a new series" - does this mean he's getting repeated publicity week after week?
I'm watching this now - that Paul Lister seems a really nice bloke. In other news there's a house in Dundee that's been cordoned off due to a combination of steam an expletives exuding from it
Aye, Matt, it's a series of prog.s (6, IIRC). Tonight's seemed merely to be an expansion of the 50 min original prog rather than much new. Presumably the later episodes will bring it up to date.
Oh my Lord - on the news that it's a series of propaganda shorts a house in Dundee has exploded and an enraged foul-mouthed beast is being trailed by army sharp-shooters Over to our man on the scene - Mike?

My son is pishing himself laughing at me! I go into a rage every time Lister opens his mouth! I'll have to calm down. I fired off an angry e-mail to the Daily Record reporter that printed that story today. He's actually replied asking if he can use my e-mail and wants me to call him on or off the record for a chat about a story! I'm very wary.
Right to be wary, especially the way the BBC prog portrays nay-sayers as being against his vision. Or that's the way I saw them portray opponents in the full programme. But obviously I'm biased in favour of biased reporting.
Yeah I would be very wary Mike! The Daily Record dont exactly have a track record for intelligent journalism! The whole Paul Lister thing makes me mad too - I think its basically just a profit making exercise to turn an unprofitable estate into a theme park raking in the bucks. I actually read an article where it said that his ideas would result in animal creulty because the area inside his fenced enclosure would be far too small to sustain a feeding habitat for these animals.
