Hi Folks! I'm going to be going to the Cairngorms on Friday for 2 nights parking at Linn of Dee and walking in and while I have been here before it was 10 years ago before they started charging for parking. I have read on various websites that the parking charge is £2 per visit but one website said it was £2 per day! Basically what I want to know is whether its £2 per visit or per day before I go - anybody know?

It's a voluntary £2 "charge" - you won't get clamped or towed. If you feel the need contribute 2 tickets

Thanks for the info Kinley! A lot of info on the web was conflicting so thats why I was unsure. It wouldnt put me off going its just if it had been £2 per day I would have needed to make sure I brought the proper change for the machine.

 Thanks ALS!

If you have an NTS badge, parking is free. There's also a toilet block there. Which is convenient.
|
 |
Or a NT car park sticker

I dont have a NT car park sticker so I'll just use the toilet provided!

As said above the £2 is a voluntary contribution the money received going to the maintenance of paths in Upper Deeside. A single payment is all that is required. It is accepted that cars are left there overnight or for several days at a time.

It was just that I was wondering about Lindsay, as I said I was unsure whether it was £2 per night or per visit. If the money is going towards footpath repair then its definately a worthy cause which will benefit us walkers and the landscape.

Aye Cammy the car park at the Linn of Dee and the one at Glen Muick signs indicate that the money goes towards path maintenance which is fine by me unlike in Angus where the Council run the car park. A lot of work has been done in Upper Deeside, the removal of the bulldozed track up Beinn a'Bhuird, west from Derry Lodge and the one up the west side of the River Dee from White Bridge so if you are wandering around the Cairngorms for a few days you should see where your £2 goes.

Isn't it great when on the odd occasion something in this world makes sense and is done properly eh?

The Cairngorm paths are a b*****d. Going west from Derry Lodge, the culverts are designed to put off mountain-bikers. Some of them are difficult to jump on the bike.

Anybody know what the current car parking charges are at the Linn O Dee are?
|
 |
 Still the same. £2 contribution

Cheers Kinley. Many thanks.
