Anyone know a stockist of Hydropel foot barrier cream. Popular in the US but i've googled away and can't find a UK stockist.

http://gorp.away.com/gorp/activity/hiking/medical/poisonivy2.htmBelieve it or not btw this stuff has proved effective in reducing inflamation on contact with Poison Ivy and Poison Oak in the US!

Cheers Trevor. Lots of record breaking US hikers use it when wearing trail shoes in wet conditions. Still can't find a UK stockist. I'm not prepared to pay postage from the US for a tube of cream.

http://thegearjunkie.com/hydropel-sports-ointmentShame, because you can of course get it directly from the manufacturer there in the US. Their web address was on the Gear Junkie article a little while ago here.

It is popular with some race canoeists too out there I hear.

Is Hydropel anything like the Gehwol Footcreams that Bob sells at backpackinglight?

e.g. http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product81.asp

I haven't managed to find a UK retailer either, so add some to other orders from the States.

It's not like the Gehwol stuff at all - more a fancy Vaseline, that is absorbed into the skin, so doesn't get washed off the first time your feet get wet.

I've looked at them Matt. I don't think so. Cheers. This Hydropel stuff is meant to stop that 'trench foot' like thing you get with permantly wet feet. The main ingredient seems to be something called diamethicone. I've found a product called Amerigel that contains diamethicone. You can get that here. Might give that a try.

Cheers NSJ. A good excuse to buy something new from the US.

Or did you mean you will?

That's where i found out about it Trevor. Cheers.

Oh! And there was me thinking I might have influenced you with my Gear Junkie post of his fifty best items ever, the other week! Oh well, never mind.

Maybe i subliminaly? spotted it there, and only THINK i spotted it on BPL.

Well, if you try to order it from Amazon.com it says they can't ship it to the UK. So I'm wondering whether a) chemist-y thingies can't be shipped across the pond or b) the same product is marketed in the UK under a different name (the Amazon website mumbles something about 'due to restrictions blah blah')

You can definitely buy it through the mail direct from the States; from a fair good few of the bigger US outdoors supplies websites no problemo, trust me!

Ta, Trev. May I ask if you got stung by custom? I ordered two packs from ULA and the flam*$g Royal Mail stung me for 30 quid each time... So I wouldn't like to pay that sort of money on a £7 tube or whatever.
You don't pay fees on anything under £18.

Right ho. That's very useful to know. Thanks, Mike.
But the £18 might include the postage.

Found it here for $13.95 and $10 shipping. Do i trust this site? None of the usual secure site symbols.

Don't touch it Mike. No https. Not even at the credit card stage. Non secure server.
