Hey guys, just wondering if the vango viper 750 would be suitable for a trek to everest base camp in ealry October (staying in lodges). Has anyone used it? I can't seem to find any reviews online.
I can't offer any advice on the Everest question, but I can report feedback on my Vango Venom 225 (little brother to the Viper 750, using the same fabrics).
I have been pretty happy with the shape and feel of the bag and it seems very warm for its weight. However, I have found the fabric to be less than down-proof. Every time I get it out of the stuff sack or put it back in there is a shower of little white feathers. I guess it is only a matter of time before this starts affecting the bags performance.
Also, mine only came with a small compression sack, whereas down bags should really be stored in a large sack that doesn't compress the filling. I keep mine in a bag from an old Vango synthetic bag.
Vango are a good budget choice, but you may wish to look at Alpkit as an alternative.
these bags are good and for the same temp rating they are lighter than the vango.i had the 1000 and it did not leak down at all on me.not sure they had killed the geese though as it flew away on a windy night on a summit in wales.!
oh yeagh,the vango is duck down so not quite as good so they say.
I have both the Venom 300 & Venom 500 both are excellent bags and neither leak down. The 300 is good lightweight bag for warm weather, the 500 is my normal bag, and the 300 inside the 500 is very very warm and my winters choice.
