I'm been thinking and thinking it over about getting a new 2 man tent! But i just can't decide what tent to go for as so far all i've read are the odd reviews. My main little beauty i have my eye on is the vaude hogan as i'm appealed by its durability and size as well as its cost at a mere £180. I'm looking for a 2 man 3-season tent with some fairly safe durability and light weight as with most gear. Also i have been looking at the geodesic style tents such as the terra nova voyager, but this is a fairly large jump up the chain and also in price!! Any opinions on the vaude hogan or voyager and any other tents worth a nosy would be appreciated

Hmm, what will you use it for, backpacking, car camping etc??

If weight is a true priority then Hogan or Hogan Ultra light is an excellent backpacking tent. Better still is Hilleberg Atko but more expensive. Best single man tent IMHO. Good alternative is Vango Phantom.

Geodesics tend to be heavier so more suited to car or teamwork. eg a Vango Storm at £130 would be a good 2 person tent if the carrying of it could be shared.

Hogans are good and i've seen them for £167. I've just sold a vango micro 200 cos its to small for a 10 month trip but for the uk and two people backpacking its ideal, fairly light and under £100 normally, helps if your short as well.

I have also been impressed by the north face tadpole 23 closer to 2kg than three with solid construction but it does hike the price up to £200

I've been looking to buy a tent, and in terms of or weight/space/strength/cost, I've been impressed by the Lightwave G1 Trek and G2 Treks. Same semi-geodisic shape as the TN Discovery, with good ventilation and 4 season performance. The G1 is smaller, weighs under 2.5kg, and costs £235 (according to the website).

The G2 is larger(2-3 person) and therefore beter for lanky gits (like me), but still fairly light at 2.7kg.

The XPD and cylc specifications are even lighter but a bit more expensive
