Hi all

Can you help. I have torn the outer sleeve of my Paramo Alta II jacket into a neat L shape up near the shoulder.

Where is the best place to get this repaired so it retains its waterproof properties?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

Thanks

Damp-Arm Dave

I second that had an alta jacket 7 years old which the zip failed on they replcaed it, fixed loads of other stuff on it and re-proofed. It was like new when I got it back and they did it free of charge can't say better than that I think the trun around time was about 2 weeks.

One of the pocket zips on my Cascadas has jumped the rails.  I ain't paying Paramo £41 (their website "from" quote) to  repair it, I don't care how good they are.

LotC, I think they only charge if due to abuse or wear and tear, I'm sure my zip was wear tear I told them that on the phone but they did it for nothing anyway.

David,  go to your local dry cleaners and ask who does invisible mending for them.  You only have to worry about getting the tear stitched - the repair won't harm the waterproofing.  Why pay two-way postage plus high repair fees

Back to Paramo.  Excellent after sales service.  Repaired a broken zip on my Aspria jacket for free when I would have been happy to pay. Send it to the experts for an expert repair. Very sympathetic with their (non)charges.

Be careful if you get someone other than Paramo to repair it.  Don't stitch all the way through the jacket. You need to keep the outer layer separate from the liner, otherwise it could affect the jacket works.

Get in touch with Paramo.  They should be able to send you some instructions and possibly a patch if you want to do it yourself

Back to Paramo....they sorted a pair of Cascada s I had front pointed with crampons.  Cost a few quid, but way cheaper than new ones and almost invisible

have torn Cascadas and Alta 2 - the outer fabric - just stiched them up myself not had any effect on performance though they don't look as good as new.

Also try Hilltrek in Scotland. They are authorised to do repairs and make their own Nikwax Analogy garments under licence from Nikwax.
