If I'm on my own I always use a bivvi bag, mainly because you can just keep going until you decide to stop, even in places you're not strictly allowed to camp, as such I've no idea how good your tent is, but I cangive you the number of a place you can get goretex bivvis for 50 quid (35 second hand.)

They're british army ones, I can't tell you how good as it's the only type I've ever used, but mine's 100 percent waterproof. The design is simple, a big tapered bag with a drawstring type hood arrangement. Maybe a bit bulky for some tastes. They also do goretex gaiters for 12 quid, goretex trousers for 25 (that's right 25 quid) and goretex bootliners for a tenner I think. You end up looking a bit "commando," But you're safe in the knowledge you've not wasted a fortune. I'll try to find a phone number, but I imagine it's the sort of stuff most AS stores have.

Hiya,
first post on the forum and I know that this thread is so old that it has practically ossified but - it came up when I searched for Sierra 1. Basically I was given an Outbound Sierra 1, 3-person (allegedly) tent a few years ago but now it is out of storage i'm trying to find out if it is complete. I was told it had no flysheet - it appears to, but seems to lack an inner - or indeed have provision for one. Can anyone let me know what these are meant to look like? - I've looked on manufacturers' sites etc but it is rather old I guess.Any help appreciated. Cheers.
Helen

All I could find was this page, which seems to show one unpacked, but not pitched. Hope this helps.

The Outbound Sierra 1 doesn't have an inner, it's a single skin tent. I've camped twice in mine, both times it rained, both times the inside was soaked. It's as though the seams aren't treated at all. That was 15 years ago, now you can pick up tents of the same quality and size for a fiver - basically it's a disposable festival tent.
