Hi folks, i'm in the market for a new family sized tent - a four man with a largish porch area to sit in when it's raining and to keep out the bugs. I was looking at the Vango Beta 450 - can be bought for around £90, but I also notice the Vango Equinox 450 - another 4man tent which looks pretty similar in shape (tunnel style), weight and materials to the Beta. Why then does the Equinox cost around £260...? The Equinox appears to use the TBS system, but there's not much else different... is TBS worth all that extra cash?
The Equinox is perhaps more suited to spending nights in the wilds. It has stronger alloy poles and is made from a slightly more waterproof material. I suspect the pegs and things like that will be upgraded. It also weighs a kilo less than the beta... all of which unfortunately means more dosh.
The Beta would probably be alright for your average campsite though, if that's what your intending.
thanks rocky, yeah, it'll just be for campsites only, but i also need it to keep out the usual scottish wind and rain we get up here! i reckon the beta will work fine for that!
