As already discussed in the Glencoe Meet thread I can now confirm that Iain Gallagher of Kendal Mountaineering Services will be attending the meet and will be offering scrambling courses on the Saturday and Sunday. Iain will be along shortly to give full details.

Aye - probably me. Got me a rope and krab now!
do you need to have your own equipment?
You'll want Iain to confirm this, but going by previous courses I'd expect a harness and helemt to be the only 'technical' kit you'd require, and if you haven't got your own you can arrange in advance to hire them from him.

Just had a message from Iain's better half to say he's been out and about the last couple of days but he will post details here tomorrow...from what he told me he's thinking on the lines of offering two scrambling courses (Sat & Sun), 3 people per day at a cost of £85 per person per day. Options might be Ledge Route or Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis or the Aonach Eagach. More info from Iain tomorrow...

I think Tower Ridge could seriously wet my appetite, if we had some more people interested............

Hi folks, sorry I have been really busy out playing (working) on hills and in ghylls for the last few days with groups of people showing them the ropes. I will post something in the am but for now Steve's post is along the routes of what I will be offering. Cruiser - to answer your question, people only need to have the proper clothing and boots. I can, for a small fee, provide helmets and harnesses if people don't have their own gear. Cheers Iain

Hello everyone. just to confirm if we get sufficient interest, I will be offering the two classic mountain scramble traverses of Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis on Saturday 19th and the Aonach Eagach, Glencoe, on Sunday 20th September at the OM Supermeet. These will both be full day excursions with Tower Ridge being the harder of the two (ie longer walk in and out), the good thing about the Aonach Eagach is that we finish at the Clachaig and that couldn't be a better end to a route! Cost per person will be £65 per head and includes the provision of a helmet & harness plus all other technical equipment required. You will need to provide your own personal clothing/waterproofs/rucksack (at least 40 litres capacity) and food and drink. Also a stout pair of boots with a cleated (vibram type) sole would be prefereable, in my view, to approach shoes. In order for each day to run we need 3 people each day having booked and paid upfront for the places. If you have any questions or would like further details please pm me with your enquiry. Previous scrambling experience is preferential but not essential. However, if you are inexperienced, you are likely to slow the group down, so bear this in mind when considering booking. I look forward to meeeting you all and having a great weekend ast the Supermeet. Best wishes Iain Gallagher. Kendal Mountaineering Services.

I'm up for Saturday Iain BUT... if I had to, depending on how many peeps, who wants to do what, I would come out on the Sunday if that balanced out better? Much rather Saturday to be honest. In fact I may be up for both days whoo hoo! See what occurs mate - will need a lid but should have my own harness by then. Glad to hear you've been busy
Ah well. That's me ruled out; I can't commit, dont have any experience of that level, and my fitness is in question anyway.
Hi Iain , Ill be more for Saturday than sunday. But lets see how many we get like kelvin says.Wish i could do both but budget wont let me.Have my own harness and soon to have helmet. When do you need to be payed by.........
Hi Martin. There are three places available on both days, the first three people getting payment in to me for each day get the places. I'd therefore get your payment in rightaway. All the best Iain
Hi Iain, Aonach Eagach is on my must do list so I'm definitely up for that. I still don't have a harness or helmet, ropes etc so would be looking to borrow those please. Assuming that your account details haven't changed since the Snowdonia meet I'll send payment through this evening when I get home from work. Mike.
Hi Iain - transfered money to your Account for Aonach Eagach on the Sunday... the pub at the end won out!
Ditto, money transfered for Aonach Eagach.
How is everyone going about paying for the course? can we just phone up or is there a link from his website.......... Thanks Martin
Mike and I already had Iain's details from before - he'll contact as soon as he looks on here I'm sure
Hi folks, well, so far we have two people paid up for Sunday, the Aonach Eagach traverse, we need one more person for that to run. Currently no interest in Tower Ridge which does surprise me, as a classic mountain day, it's one of the best in the country. Regards Iain

Whe you said staright to the pub after Aonach Eagach... the decision was made for us
Ha!
