Owned a pair of Meindl Borneo Mens Pro for about 12 months and were perfect for about the first 100 miles, however, a crease has developed on the right boot which bites into the top of my right foot.
Normally, leather boots mould to your feet and become more comfortable as you put more miles under them. Of course they develop creaes at flex points over time but I've never heard of sucha crease biting into the foot.
Have you been waxing them regulalry to keep the leather supple? Also, you could try lacing them differently. The definitive lacing guide is here.
i assume that it has creased where there is a metal eyelet and it is this that digs in? it is strage that this crease has only just happened or is it that you've only just noticed it?
i can't help i'm afraid but that is why i can't wear meindl boots of this type.
Yes treated them every trip with leather conditioner and wax and the leather is very supple. I aways look after my boots it is like a religion....10 years in the Navy taught me to look after my foot wear.
This is my third pair of Meindl boots and I've never had this problem before. They normally last about 6 years....and its the sole that forces me to buy another boot.
To be honest having examined the boot the top reinforement on the right boot appears to be a lot more robust than the left.
I have emailed Meindl and I'm waiting on a response but if it's anthing like the response from costworld outdoor I won't be impressed. They told me to buy another pair....what a joke.
Is it worth going to an old fashioned cobbler or a decent boot fitter and seeing if they can use a rubbing bar to stretch the boot a bit at the troublesome spot? Altberg especially seem to have a really good custom fitting service.
