Finally getting around to posting, having read bits on this site for ages.
I am looking for a lightish fleecy type thing that cuts out some of the wind but is still nice and breathable and don’t care about waterproofness. I would ideally like the Montane sabretooth but the wallet wont stretch that far so was wondering about Puma 2.0 jacket. Has it much windproofing?
I have the original version of the Montane Puma and its a great jacket with 4 well sized pockets. The current version of the Puma is not to my liking due to a fabric change and Montane have removed 2 of the pockets. My Puma is a constant companion as it provides reasonable windproofing, good water repellency and is hard wearing. Its been used from mountain biking in pouring rain on the NY Moors to ski-ing on the Grande Motte Glacier in the French Alps and is also smart enough to wear down the pub.
Alternatively you might want to take a look at the Berghaus Twister RRP £90 which I have put in to stock for this season as a replacement for the Puma.
Just got one recently so not used it much but my first opinion is that it is not extremely windproof - particularly the side sections where the material is more breathable - but I think it is meant to be used when quite active.
I have one as well, Sorta mid way wind proof for a fleece, not Windstopper but not monkeyman. It can be very warm mind!! I rarely use mine when I'm actually walking.
