Neither. Try the Whitebox Stove. My personal new preference. Out of the two all I can say is the Primus stuff IMHO is very good. Crux too ahve a good rep and the Crux lite, as I understand it, saves even more weight over the original version by not having the flip over burner head that allows the standard one to fit in the base of a gas can. This IMHO is a good thing as that flip point is a weakness and potential durability issue. Both are good and I am sure they will work well for you. I would consider the lightweight meths stoves as an option and I like the WBS one. Not for everyone and is only now for me once I got the WBS. Besides BPL-UK is a good little site to spend birthday money on.

Hi, Im afraid I like the convenience of Gas over meths stoves. I liked my old crux but it does wobble a bit, If one was slightly more miserly with fuel than the other that would probably be a deciding factor.

I like the Primus windshield that they do. Perhaps your birthday spend could stretch another £10 to get that with the primus one as I think they work really well together. stopps any worry about heating the can up with a usual floor standing windshield and reflector. I guess the windshield would kinda reflect the heat with the primus one. just a suggestion, if the crux one worked for you then perhaps stick to what you know. Otherwise try something new. All I can say is I bought an express (sold in a box saying micron with pz ignition) from Primus and have only ever had goos things to say about it. I know ppl with the MSR pocket rocket who have tried mystove and preferred it so it is not just me that rates it. I agree witth you over the gas but the WBS kind of converted me for short trips. I even took a vvvv small fuel bottle with the windshield, reflector and stove all stashed in a plastic mug in the side mesh pocket of my 20l daysack and it was a great brew-kit on a day walk. The bottle was about 1fl oz so was tiny and boiled two large mug-fulls. Can't knock that, especially since it only took about 6 minutes plus about 2 minutes to set-up and get to full bloom.

I think you're making the right decision not replace your wobbly Crux. The Crux Lite is worth a look as Crux stuff is very well engineered. The Primus Micron has had very good reviews and Primus has a good reputation. Both are very similar in weight and packed size.
I have noticed that the Crux has a wider burner head than the Micron and the Micron's pan supports seem to be a bit higher from the burner than the Crux's. If you intend to use a ti mug on the stove, you may find the Crux better as its pan supports go across the burner head whereas the Micron's have a gap in the middle which a mug could slip through. The Crux is about £15 more expensive than the Micron. It might be worth getting both and seeing which is a better fit for the pan(s) you intend to use with it. TTG is right about the Primus windshield - very quick to attach (no unfolding and folding that you get with a foil windshield) and keeps the canister cool.

Jake - I somehow doubt the micron pot supports would be made too small for a mug to rest on them. That would surely be a design flaw that is easily spotted by anyone let alone one of the main gas stove manufacturers in the world. I have the express which is a similar style of pot support with a gap in the middle, i.e. nothing between the flame and the pot, and I have used wide, low pots and Ti mug pots on it most successfully. The burner is not too narrow or too wide so you don't get hot spots or flames up the side. Other similar ones are the Vargo Jet-Ti which is sold in a few outlets including BPL-UK, the snow peak stove and the very common pocket rocket. I have heard that they are all good ones as well. The pocket rocket has a narrow burner that is best in tall thin mug types of pots. It also has quite slippy pot supports.

I think there is a new updated Crux being released imminetely with a new updated collar, eliminating any head wobble on it + a new Heat Exchanger pot. Updated Crux & Terra Weekend HE

Yes I saw that too, I'm going to get a Crux Lite As its a bit cheaper, I saw a post by Chris Townsend saying that one pot support broke and one bent on the Primus Micron so that decided it for me!

A mug is significantly narrower than a pot and requires more careful placement on the stove top. I'm not suggesting that the gap is larger than the mug but you only need one edge of the mug to slip off the inner point of one of the pot supports and it can spill.

I've got a Vargo Jet-ti myself and it is a great stove. Barely heavier than the F1 Lite and very sturdy. The pan supports swing out around a central spindle and are rock-solid. The only niggle is that they are not truly level when deployed but then you rarely use a stove on completely level ground anyway...
