I just happened to run into a OMM representative today in a local outdoor shop, so I asked about the mountain mover as I'm intrested in the pack.

The 2010 verson is going to be a completely new design, but is unlikely to be lighter. It will be out in the Autumn they hope. That is all I know.

Lucky sod. I never run into them. I'd like to speak to a manufacturer or preferably a designer as I am sure they would like to hear my opinions on what would make a good sack / tent / sleeping bag.

I have come to the conclusion that OMM sacks are too cluttered. That makes them heavy. If you do strip them it is all one way so you can not sell them on when you the next rucksack once you find something better.

It is lucky as It means I've now manged to get hold of a Mountain mover (he is going to send one to the shop for me, Should be there within 2 weeks) plus a load of maps from the previous OMM races.

It may be too early but I wonder if the new version will be less cluttered?

IT could just be me but do you really need anything but one compartment and a lid pocket? That's assuming you use a bladder and prefer to stop to eat a snack or lunch. The waistbelt pockets I do like but will do without.

Need, perhaps not. However - for walking - I really do like all the extra accesability their features give you. If you don't want most of it you can always remove/cut off most of it

I find the front pocket thing handy for stuffing things, and the side pockets for maps and stuff. Oh and the lid pocket for a few things. Being deprived of waistbelt pockets would make me sulk.

Not heavy in an absolute sense - 1.1kg for the Villain. I've stripped mine slightly as it only carries properly for me with a classic 32 style back system.

Ditto Martin. I don't need many of the features on the OMM MM and Jirishanca, but I do like them, and most of the others can be removed without having to perform pack surgery. I find them a good compromise between light weight and functionality -- plus they fit my back well.
