Anyone got any tips for a pair of fine walking 'slacks' that don't billow (fave word that).
I currently have a pair of 'Zip off' Crags, however with the slightest breeze I look like a German Stormtrooper, minus the stick grenades of course!!
Not blessed with the best looking legs (more akin to fowl I have been told) I look like a seriously bad impression of Max Wall with me boots on!
Not needed for anything too strenuous, oh, and a 'short' length if poss.....
I've got CH Zip-offs too. They're great for having some of the fattest legs around!

I used to have a pair of Lowe Alpine pants that were a right pain on a windy day. I often thought that they'd have someones eyes out.

But the Berghaus Fasttrek aren't too bad for being billowy. They are a bit long in the legs however.

I think the Fasttreks are a tad billowy, the MHW Velocity Pant, on the other hand, is nice and narrow. Ditto the 2003 HH ones, but they seem almost impossible to get hold of.

If you don't want stretch soft shell Mountain Hardwear Pack Pants are quite narrow too.

Except around the arse where they are positively capacious ;-)

True, but it does allow for easy movement, given that they don't stretch.

GoLite Synergy Pants are quite slim too. They're made from Pertex Equilibrium, which is very breathable - far better than most of the fabrics used for trousers of this type.

Why would one like ones arse to have "freedom of movement"?

I think it's just to prevent dangerous back-pressure events after eating Raven meals...

I tried some keks at Campex once that had three cords in each leg to reduce the volume. Looked a bit of a div but would work for chicken legs and those of us with a more "ursine" physique. Doesn't look like anyone ever put them into production though.

Patagonia Fennec pants are quite a slim fit. If you can find them (yet another TK Maxx purchase...)

I found a pair of Fasttrek pants in my discount store at the weekend, but thought they were a bit too baggy for my skinny legs, and long, and the calf zip would make adjustment a pain.

Of course, the ultimate in non-baggy pants has to be Ron Hills...

Alex, when trousers are made of non-stretch material it's useful! Especially for scrambling or Nordic skiing. That's why some trousers come with an extra diamond shaped panel in the crotch.
