hi, anyone done any repairs on paramo trousers??, the mrs has torn a couple of strips at the rear end of her trousers coming down some very steep scree, can you get patches of material to do a self repair or do they need to be sent away? cheers

I sent mine away, lfenbo, it cost £35 for assessment and repair. They replaced a whole upper thigh panel and the arse panel after a tumble bodying for SARDA last autumn. The repairs were excellent, unfortunately the arse panel replacement has left seams that rub on the top of my legs so they're not as comfy for walking as they used to be. The tears in the trousers were not that big. I don't know if it's more effective or easier for Paramo to replace the whole area, but in retrospect if I could have got hold of some Cascada outer material I'd have done wee patches myself and sod how they looked. You could always advertise for trashed stuff, or contact Paramo or Cioch for some offcuts.

thanks kate i think the second idea sounds better, as the trousers didnt cost 35 quid in the first place, got them off ebay couple years ago virtually brand new and a great bargain. dont tell the mrs that though . they are the zip off variety dont think they do them anymore so will try get some material to do a repair, thanks for the input.

I thought one of the wonders of Paramo is that you can simply sew up any rips and it still won't be waterproof?

Just looking at Ifenbo's description - zip offs? Are they Cascada waterproof type or like just zip offs?
|
 |
Probably Viento trousers, so effectively zip-off Cascadas.

Just phone Paramo and they'll send you some material FOC to do the patch yourself. We did that, made a very rudimentary stitch-up and the trousers work as good as new.

not sure what the proper name is but they are like the cascadas but with the option of converting to shorts, although mrs has never used them as shorts . they are her first choice of trousers most of the year so she must rate them highly. and they do keep her dry mrs nesbitt lol

Whilst we're sort of on the subject; does anybody have some old/trashed Anology fabric that they'd consider selling/donating? I fancy an attempt at glove making prior to next Winter.

Thank you, much appreciated. Having struggled with my hands for too many winters I have the lofty ambition of designing and making my perfect glove. It, so far, invloves a Primaloft inner (which I already have) under an Analogy outer. I have a good few months to work on them
