Is there a Captain Paranoia in the house? Young man here in need of gear fondler...

I'd learn to sew very quickly. As fleece is made of loose fibres any glue will soon pull free or sidolve in the rain - even the waterproof glues will fail.

i can knit (honestly!) - may be quicker and better looking than my sewing

As Darren says, I'm not sure there's much hope for glueing, due to the open nature of the fabric. Some manufs have gone over to thermal bonding for shells, using hot-melt glue similar to the seam seal tape, but none that I've seen for fleece. Of course, no-one has exploited the potential of welding the polyester fleece yet, but that's almost certainly because it would leave a stiff seam.

Depends on how much sewing you need to do - repair, or full-on fabrication job? A small repair should be possible with needle and thread. I'm sure you can work it out...

Ah, well, if you can knit, then you're probably familiar with a blanket stitch, which would work reasonably well on fleece, sewing the seam and locking the edges at the same time.

If that fails get someone else to do it!
