Has anyone got one?
Are they any good?

I'm looking for a tent for all year round UK usage and big enough for 2 people and loads of room for kit and/or cooking if the weather is bad.

Vaude Mark II is another possibility but I don't know anyone who owns one, so can't really tell how good they are.

They all look ok but nowt beats the experience of using them "in the field" so to speak.

Cheers

Take a look at the Hilleberg Nallo 2: proper 4-season, lower weight. I have a Hilleberg Akto and it's a fantastic tent. They are not the cheapest but are really good quality.

I just purchased a Force Ten Assault from Field and Trek for £220 - it's a much tougher tent than the Hurricane, and F&T's price is about £130 off the RRP. I bought it for the same reasons that Justin has cited - hopefully I got it right (won't know until the winter!)

Oops forgot to mention that I want to spend about £250 max hence my interest in Hurricanes.

You can pick up a Hurricane for £200 on the web so they seem like a bargain even though they're a little heavy.

The Nallo 2 is a good tent but they're also extremely pricey and not very roomy for 2 big lardy blokes and kit.

I got a Vango spirit earlier this year which is very light and small (to carry) with a very big porch. From what I can gather, it's basically a cheaper version of the Nallo GT but it seems well made and very stable. If it's storage/cooking space you're after, I'd go for a decent tunnel tent, especially if you're planning on lugging it around.

btw, the spirit is in the same price range as the hurricane, maybe a tiny bit more...
