My mate Iain has just splurged out on an ME Matrix. Result! One more of us on the dark side!
Bugger am bag packing with the scouts that weekend, you could ask them if they want to sponsor an OM meet, they could bring along lots of kit for us to try out on the hill and then buy at greatly reduced prices - worth a try.

Anyway, lightline or snowline bag ???????

Snowline
Snowline it is then.

Dave are you on commission from ME ?????

I wish!!! I don't mind reccomending the best kit because I know it won't dissapoint, and the Snowline has been an excellent bag for me.

Dave, is the Snowline worth the extra £ over the Dragon 1000? I've the Dragon 500 and it's a great bag and was looking at the 1000 for this winter but wouldn't mind the benefit of your ME fetishism...

Thx,
R

Richard, I guess it depends on what you're going to do with it. There's a lot more to choosing a bag than just its filling weight and temperature rating. The design of baffles, zips, hoods etc makes a great difference to comfort levels, and the Snowline/Iceline series are MEs top of ther range series that have the best of everything. Mine gets used in British winters so the water resistant outer is essential, but still has the insulation and wind resistance I need when going to the Rockys, Pyrenees etc.

With top end kit, and especially ME kit I think you should always compromise on price rather than quality.....they don't make the Dragon series cheaper without compromising on performance/quality. Other than your boots you spend more time in your sleeping bag than any other piece of kit, and you want it to be comfortable and last.

Thanks, I'll need to mull for a bit on this one. Looks like another winter in the synthetic pack-size-of-an-elephant-calf TNF bigfoot til I can afford what I can afford.
