Anyone use these for walk ins and/or Scottish winter routes? If so, please tell me all about them and their suitability, e.g. did you get too hot? Did you find them too bulky? Etc. Cheers.

Be like that then, I don't care. It's too late now anyway, coz I've bought 'em. ;-P

you will find them nice and warm.

 |
You'd best do a review then.

haven't got them so i can't! comment based on the special 6 and mountain coat. they are toasty to the extreme. the coat over the special 6 is warmer than a very warm thing. the salopettes must follow the same pattern. you know they're not waterproof don't you. just point that out in case you want to sit in a puddle! :-)

Yeh Santa's bringing me some Paramo Aspira salopettes. Had a look at the Buff's at the time.
Must admit to wearing my special shirt 6 more and more lately.
Will be looking out for a review sometime in January then..

Cheers Stadler (Parky? Are you in there?), yeah, I know they're not 'waterproof' but I've got some overtrousers if it buckets down. Shouldn't need them though as they are pretty much 'weather resistant', stay warm when wet and dry super-fast (like all the other pile/perterx stuff). I wanted something warm and breathable that doesn't expose my back/arse when I'm looking ugly & performing graceless climbs. I'll post a review once I've battered them (and me) on some Grade II/III gullies in the New Year. :-)

Funnily enough Nick, I was looking at Aspiras too. My only concern with the DPs was that I would be too hot but the alternative (that I've used until now) is Karrimor 100 weight Alpiniste fleece pants with waterproofs over the top = a bit sweaty with the waterproofs/look like Max Wall with just the fleece pants on!

 |
 ah music to my ears....aspira......
parky's still in here somewhere in hiding till present grumpiness abates - day 39 of giving up smoking!
yay! the buffalo's should be great (sorry bout the waterproof tease, forgot you're not one of the puddle sitters) and the DP breathability is absolutely top class.

Aaah! I knew you were in there somewhere. 39 days is too long to give in to the weed now mate! Nice one.

 Keep up the fight.
Just think what you save on fags you can spend on gear.

Buffalo salopettes? I've got some of the go-faster ones with the knee and bum reinforcement patches & found them too hot and bulky for walking in, even in winter Lakes. So can't honestly reccomend them. Absolutely briiliant for pulling on after winter w/w kayaking, which is probably not very helpful unless you're a 'yakker.

I've just ordered some after filling my goretex bibs with condensation/ice on the Finnmarksløpet 500km sled race, will they really keep me warm at -30c without thermals on?
