I am looking for a 3/4 season, lightweight (under 3kg), 2-person tent. Should be relatively easy and quick to pitch, preferably flysheet first.
I am on a tight budget so was wondering if anyone has seen a bargain on the web?
Thanks, Dave

Just saw a Coleman Cobra 2 on the net for £59 (www.theoutdoorshop.com). Checked the reviews on here and it looks ok, but does anyone know how many seasons it is? I plan to do some high(ish) level wild camps in the lakes but only in sprin/summer.
Any info on this one or any other tent bargains would be great!!

Anyone got info on the following tents;
* Campus Compact 2 * Robens Small Dreamer
Nothing on the reviews, they seem to meet my requirements but would prefer a real reccomendation!

Seen a Lightwave T1 Trek for £145 on Field & Trek which might suit your needs better than a Coleman. I have a ZR0 and I highly recommend Lightwave who are a relatively new but highly thought of manufacturer. Hope this helps.

Thanks Andy, but really can't afford more than £100 at the minute. Might wait a month or two and pay a bit more but was hoping to pick up a bargain in the sales.

Vaude Taurus 1 at Gearzone or Outdoor Garage. Think they are £75 at the moment.
Pitches inner and fly as one, so VERY fast. Weighs 2.5kg, and I'd say it's 3/4 season (only prob it has had is in 80mph winds on Snowdon at New Year, and even then the actual structure wasn't compromised)
I put a review up a few days ago, after using it for about 9 months

They were £120 when I got mine (for £95), but there are good offers now in the sales :) Just replace the front bungee with sthg stronger if you ever use it in a hurricane!

I haven't used the Robens Small Dreamer but I do use a Robens Challenger tent, which is similar, and its fantastic. Ok its taken abuse over the years but its still in good shape. Very good for a large two man tent that weighs less than 2.5kg.

Take a look at www.cheaptents.com which might suit you for a cheapy,or have a look at gearzone, some decent sale stuff on at the moment

How about a Vango TBS Micro? Often in the sales, well made and with the latest redesigned they seem to have got the flysheet right.
Not a lot of headroom though ..

If it is not too late, Craigdon Mountain Sports have been selling off McKinley tents at rock bottom prices (I think McKinley went bust)
The tents are pretty good quality (I bought one last year): 3 season, simultaneous pitching, alloy poles and fairly lightweight
The Starlite 2 is your typical two pole tunnel, weights 2.6kg and has been reduced to £70 from £160
The Moonlite 2 has the a third pole supporting an extended porch, weights 3.2 kg and costs £75 (down from £170)

I've wild camped in my Cobra 2 in the Lakes a few times with no probs. Split between 2 people it's what, 1.4kgs each? Has stood up to wind and rain better than many give them credit for. I'm sure it will not stand up to high wind as well as a tent with crossing poles though. Loads of room and two doors - and having a porch at either sides means lots of space for cooking shelter and storage.

Over your budget I know, but if you can save up cotswolds outdoor are doing macpac minaret for £175 :o)

If you want a cheap tent and dont mind a tight squeez. Wild Country are bring out a new tenT in Febuary which is a complete copy of the classic Terra Nova Solar Tent at a great price of £82. You cant go wrong there, I have just ordered one

dave, the canyonlands is way to small for two people and while a great one man traveling tent and surprisingly strong, it doesn't cope with long bouts of very wet weather very well (the 'sideways' entrance means that if the porch is open rain can fall into the body of the tent).
it is extremely light, well made and easy to put up and definately gets a 3+ season rating from me.

Macpac Microlight from the Outdoor store for £159. They don't have any in stock but they will order for you at this price :-). Might be okay for two people depending on quite how friendly you are.

I may be selling a Mountain Hardwear Skyview 2 person tent next week, hardly used. Cost over £200, sell around £120. Will know on Monday.
Great sized tent, large porch, 2 doors (one into porch, one directly outside), loads of ventilation if you want it.
Let me know if you are interested. Weight is around 3.6kg

oops, sorry just reread your post re: weight. This tent also pitches inner first.
