I've got a couple of sentimental things that are always in my sack, one is a pair of purple and teal windbloc gloves, 11/12 years old. Another is a pair of Bloc glacier glasses that are of similar vintage, I recently had to steep them in Dettol to remove the fungus growing on the leather bits, I think they may be under used. Oh, another is Extremities gtx gaiters ('96?) the standard style (nova?), now more patches than my Grannies quilt.

Patagonia canvas climbing pants - no longer fit Bob but fit me now, circa 1980 The slight flared bottoms are once more trendy
Helly original fleece pile jkt - same era
base layers from late 1970s in cream! Tim has been known to wear them now for snowboarding
I'm sure there are more...

I've got a fleece in the boot of my car that is about 11 years old......can't bear to part with it and it is still OK. Sprayway.....must have been good fleece as it is not too badly pilled.
My boots are about 8 or 9 years old..Berghaus Storm GTX & still going strong. Rusty eyelets but otherwise good....even a bit of tread left. I find they are so comfortable that I always wear them instead of my newer ones!

My oldest piece of kit still in regular use is probably my 1982 model Trangia 25. I've never had to replace any of it and have just added extras over time like a Boggins bag and gas convertor. My Quasar is about 3 years newer and has given brilliant service too.

My Gelert walking trousers, i've had these poly/cotton pants for about 7 years they are so comfortable i wish i had bought 2/3 pairs at the same time! They now have about 3 fag burns in them, completly faded, holes appearing in the knees and the other day the front button fell off (and quickly got stitched back on:-) .. They belong in a museum no doubt. Does anyone know of a good Gelert stockist, seriously :-)

Thermos Shuttle titanium flask bought at huge expense in Grasmere getting on for 15 years ago now. It's turned out to have been worth every penny :)
Fleecy neck gaitors, about 15 years old. They look embarrassingly stupid, but they're some of the best things I've ever bought.
Lowe Alpine Contour Runner daysack. Must be about 15 years old now too. I've used it loads but it's still in perfect condition. In it's way, it's the best rucksack I've ever had (yet...)
Assorted Sigg water bottles, 15+ years old and still going strong.

Some knitted norwegian socks from 1980 that I still occasionally use,A trusty trangia 1982,karrimor Iberian cycle panniers 1982,saunders spacepacker 1984 and my handbuilt bike circa 1984,all much used.

I still have my original Berghaus Trango Extrem from the early 90s complete with frayed cuffs, hem, waist cord and a broken wire in the hood. I don't actually wear it very often mind.
Oh, I remember, I still have a Mountain Equipment Lightline sleeping bag which dates from around 1981 and is still being used pretty regularly. A bit thinner and less loft than it used to have, but still going strong.

I still use a Phoenix GTX jacket that I bought in 1992 for wlaking the dog. Weighs a ton, but a bit of re-proofing every now and then and it still does the job.
Also got a swiss army knife that my grandfather bought me in 1985 (when I was 12). Goes everywhere with me.

A hip-flask that once belonged to my dad. It was presented to him when he 'retired' from his Mountain Rescue team in the Lakes. Which was many moons ago. Absolutely non-essential item, but it's always one of the first things into my pack. I even take it empty sometimes!

I still have my first pair of "proper" walking boots, Hawkins Borderers bought in 1976. Eeek what an old git..

Aluminium mess tin/pot, made 1956. Originally used by my dad. Still fulfills all my cooking needs :)

umm don't tell anyone, but it's a Lancashire Constabulary Policeman's whistle, probably early last century - my Dad acquired it, and I found it in his rucksack after he died - so it still makes forays out into the hills (better that than the mean streets of Blackburn I reckon).
The oldest piece of my own kit I still use (about once a year, so that's why they've lasted) - Damart Long-Johns.

Karrimat & pan set. Both still in regular use on all my camping expeditions. One was a 17th birthday present, the other was a Christmas present (one month later), in 1974.

Hmmm - the oldest bit of kit I take onto the hills ??
That has got to be ME - especially my knees and lower back !!!!!!

Tin's base camp sleeping bag is a very cosy ME one from 1981 - cotton lining and weighs an absolute ton but it's very warm.
