I discovered a kathmandhu trekking bivi bag in Tiso's Newcastle the other day. Been back today to buy it & someone's beaten me to it!!! grrr!

Has anyone got their phone number to hand? I'm going to have to get a brochure now. If anyone's got access to a copy of 'the book of the bivi' it's in the back.....

ta muchly in advance...:-)

His name is Julian Miles and he's a bit of a character!

Try him on 01970 890425.

He treats everyone who phones him like someone from another bivvy company wanting all his secrets, but he's a laugh when you get to know him!

Thanks Bob,

Too late though. i've ordered a Wild Country scout that i saw on special offer. Nevermind, it's getting out there that counts.

That's funny. I looked in the contacts section at the back of my 2004 reprint copy of 'The Book of the Bivvy', and he says that KT seems to have 'packed up his bag and gone on a long trek' (paraphrased).

Interesting to see he's still going, even if in covert mode...

Yeah when that book was written I believe he was living 'down south'. When I met him about a year ago he had recently moved to the deep dark hills in mid wales.

That's about as much as I know.

For anyone who has got here looking for contact details, the Kathmandu Trekking website was posted on this thread.

It says in Ronald Turnbulls book of the bivvy, latest reprint that kathmandu trekking has ceased trading due to the untimely death of Julian Miles, sad but dont know anymore than that.

Julian died about 2 years ago. His partner Wendy moved away from Wales and did consider continuing the business but decided to close it down.
