I am thinking of buying one of these as it weighs in at under 2kg which is ideal for my weak back. Has anyone got any feedback on these tents which they could pass on before I decide to buy - good and bad points please. Thanks

Hi Ali, I wrote a review on the standard Taurus a while back, I like it a lot! Standard one is 2.3kg though, but exactly the same size and shape. Weight saving on the ultralight comes from a mesh inner, which can be cold.

Can only agree with the people above. I have the Taurus I and it's ace!

Are you going to use it solo or with another person? It looks small for two people.

If you have a weak back, like I do, I suggest that it isn't just keeping weight down that is important, but a well fitting pack, and a tent that is easy to get out of and a nice mat to sleep on.

I don't really mind carrying half a 3kg tent, but I do find it painful getting in and out of it-the gymnastics required are not for the non-supple!

Haven't actually used the Taurus though I've heard only good things about Vaude tents.

i have a taurus 1, which i absolutely love. i've only found one problem, which is that the bottom isn't very water proof (i ended up always putting a plastic ground sheet underneath it), so i invested in the footprint which was £22.50 from action outdoors.

and i second gordon's comment, so easy to use, as with the taurus 1 and probably the ultra light, the inner can be left attached to the outer, so no need to put them up separately!

Darth - I find the same as you with the groundsheet and use a cheap general one, but of course it's not really the right size. Do you have the web addy for action outdoors?
