So let's go even further back. Most of my maps of Scotland, all of the North and Cairngorms and the Coe and everything in between cost me four shillings and sixpence; six shillings canvas backed. Some I got at a John Menzies sale for two shillings. And you know what - the hills are still in the same place. Two of the most useful are ,(sound of noses being turned up), the OS Tourist maps of the Cairngorms and Glencoe; both areas that require multiple maps to get total coverage. These two maps are identical in scale and content to the normal ones but ignore the grid and simply cover the areas mentioned above. And the older contours and colours are still superior to the current ones.
