if you are only using it as a confidence rope then it should be ok, your problem will arise if you need to abseil with it.
in strength terms you could use it as a single rope, however you would be hard pushed to control your decent using such a skinny rope as a single, especially if its a novice using it or the rope is wet.
personally i'm not a fan, i think short ropes inspire to much confidence in route-finding while having so many limitations that they can only be used in a very limited set of circumstances.
just take your normal rope, i use a 8.2mm 60m edelrid with some slings and various pro. the weight isn't a problem and i'm more confident in my ability to get out of trouble.
