I've been looking at an Icebreaker T, in the 190 weight. However, I'm sort of bwteen sizes - Medium and Large. I've heard some stories about shrinkage after washing. Is this significant enough that I should opt for the larger size?

I was concerned about shrinkage as well but took the plunge and bought the T in my size (Large) and so far it hasn't shrunk despite being shamelessly thrown in the wash with everything else. Same goes for my heavier weigh long sleeve Icebreaker, but not for the cheapie Aldi merino top.

Hope that helps

mine shrank a bit, but the original sizing seems a bit dodgy to me.

i have the skin200 baselayer and the T-shirtesque superfine190. the baselayer is the small but the t-shirt is large, ok so the fit is a bit different, but not that different. the large baselayer i tried on absolutely drowned me - it would only have fitted an orang-u-tang with a 55 inch chest.

if you know folk in australia or NZ get them to send the tops to you as gifts (for customs reasons) because they are about a third to a half of the price of tops in the UK. i got one short and one long-sleeve baselayer and two T-shirt designs for about £120.

Never had nay probs of shrinkage with mine. I chose it for a close fit and it's been fine when washed.

Go for bigger. Some of my Icebreaker tops have shrunk, mainly the heavier long-sleeved tops to the point where the sleeves are about 5cm too short.

I've found more the opposite. My icebreaker top isn't quite as clingy as it used to be. Might be a cm or two shorter on the arms too, but I'd be careful buying too big as a baggy cut will stop it keeping you as warm and limit wicking abilities.

Mind you it's been washed about 10 times and worn nearly half of this year (I wore it in the heat in Spain on holiday, and I wear it frequently to the office, and even out in the evenings as it is quite smart).

Me and JYC have got 6 Icebreaker items between us and none of them have changed size up or down after hard use and repeated washing.
Their sizing is big though, I usually take a large and I'm an Icebreaker Medium.
Best underwear you can get, except the boxers, Smartwool make better ones.
Try -> outdoorsports.co.nz cheaper and only a day longer than UK delivery.
