Early start to Helvellyn

I'll bet there was still someone else on the top!  Never been on Helvellyn without meeting someone else, including at 2am in the middle of winter!

Same here... some years ago I went up with a group to catch the sunrise. (No sunrise, though, because of thick cloud.) When we got to the summit wall shelter, I joked about us relieving the 'night shift', and there was some guy lying in a sleeping bag, also waiting for the sunrise!

Have been on summit of Helvellyn by myself - last December in the snow in not great weather (can't say I blame others for not bothering)

Once followed two mates up through the cornice on a night ascent of one of the gullies.  To be met by a guy offering us a mug of tea, must have been well past midnight.

I took my son there last year. We camped at red tarn on bonfire night and got striding edge and helvellyn free in the morning appart from one father and son that set out before dawn
