I took this photo back in April from near Grasmere, showing part of the Fairfield horseshoe covered in a dense white cloud that we'd spent most of the day in.

I've seen the same sort of cloud being gently blown off the top of Fairfield, cascading down into Deepdale, where it simply melted. It was like watching a huge, slow-motion waterfall.

It was incredible to see - we'd had no idea what it looked like until we looked back as we were walking away.

It was one of those rare occasions when I was out walking with a pal, and we were climbing from Grisedale Tarn, having a blazing row about access. I was all for 'freedom to roam' and he was all for 'private property'. When we saw the cloud cascading off Fairfield, we both shut our gobs and stood in respectful silence!

Really a awesome view. I often see this kind of view when visits any hilly area. It looks like we are walking between the clouds. Just feel like walking in a different place which is not on the earth.

Thanks! It was amazing - the weird thing was that we all expected it to be making  a sound as it looked like a wave, but instead it was a huge, silent mass of white.
