Hi,

I'm looking to replace my ancient Hi-Tek boots, as I finally walked the soles off them. Fixed with superglue, but they could do with replacing.

My budget is about £150, and I'm looking for a solid 3 season tough but light weight for general hiking in all conditions.

So far my searching has led me to three main contenders, in order of preference,

If anyone could give me some feedback, or suggest other boots which might fit the bill, please feel free to add them in.

No doubt, the general opinion will be get what fits you right. I recentley was in the boot market and wanted the Asolo's but when I tried them on they just wasnt the right fit, went through about 5 different pairs before opting for a pair of Salom Cosmics which fit a dream.......so far and a nice Red colour to which is a refreshing change from black

Yes. You don't wear shoes on your head do you?

So best to let your feet make the decision for you

Heh, yes, this sounds most wise. I was hoping to track down a few specific boots to narrow down the choice of stores I need to visit.

Altough I think you are right and it might involve some carefull route planning to take in as many outdoor stores as I can find!

Wise to pickup some proper socks as well I guess? I tend to use a pair of marino wool ski socks which have been working great so far

Bought a pair of Asolo flame on the Saturday then set off on the Monday and walked the GR54, straight out of the box, a brief try on in the shop, did the ascending bit on the shop stool, they suit a narrow foot but as to comfort and performance on dry and wet rock they are up with the best,

I carried a 15kg pack over some very rough ground and the ankle support was good.

There's lots of deals around on them, so shop around
