Alternative to Sangri La 3

So I value the internal space and height this tent offers and its small packing size, particuarly that the inner and outer are slim and can be shared amount two packs or neatly stored as you wish in one.

However, when camping with two people, and due to the similar size of our long exped matts (197 x 65) the pole gets in the way.

Can anyone recommend a nice tent as an alternative?

 Thanks

If you want low weight/pack size and good headroom, a 'mid (pyramid) is the way to go IMO

If you don't want a pole in the centre of your tent and want a tent with good headroom, then something heavier will be needed - go for a 3 man tent - geo (semi) or tunnel maybe - larger width tends to be taller.

We currentlly use a cheap Vango Halo 300 for 'compact' but roomy car camping tent - it isn't that light though.

If you do want a mid.....

some options:

Golite SL5

Oware Pyramid tarps  ( I have a 9x9 - no inner made yet)

MLD Supermid

Bear Paw Luna

Black Diamond Megalight

Luxe Outdoors Mega Horn

Inners may be available, if not Oookworks or Bearpaw do bespoke/custom

All these are square based so quicker/easier to pitch than an SL3.

TRAILSTAR ABOUT 130 then sean at oookworks has just made a 2 person inner about 180 i think solid shelter and you can leave inner at home in cooler months or no midge months  or scarp 2 but guess its a bit late
