Any Osprey Exos 58 users?

I'm looking for a backpack capable of holding a weeks gear, without having to pack the bare minimum.

I currently have a Golite Jam which is great but I would prefer something with a few more pockets to keep passports/tickets etc safe.

Would the Exos 58 fit this bill and how viable would it be to use as a daypack whilst on excursions?

I have an exos 46 and would say that in my opinion it's one of the best packs around. However, I'd think that the 56 would be way too spacious to be easily used as a daypack.

I've got both the Exos 46 and the Exos 58.  Great packs.

The Exos 58 is a good size if your backpacking style is more slackpacking rather than uberlightweight minimalist and will certainly hold a week's worth of gear.  It does sound as though you are looking for something to use for travelling rather than backpacking, however.

The Exos 58 has a lid pocket but it would be too large to use as a daypack, even with the compression straps snugged down.  Had you considered one of those travel bags that incorporates a rucksack harness that zips away and a detachable daypack on the front?

I definitely don't want a travel bag as backpacking is more my thing. Maybe I'll just find a small frameless daysack that will compress down small

Thanks for the info

I have replaced my tent bag with one of these 68g silyon daypacks, so I always have a day pack available if I've pitched. Never actually used it yet, there never seems to be any desire to walk any further.

I have the exos46 and have used it for a week long trip carrying 3-4 days food.

The Exos 58 would fit the bill, loads of space. I used to use one for overnighters and just compressed it with the straps, not really ideal as a day pack tho.

I would have thought that the removable lid on the exos58 would make an adequate ' manbag' for day trips.

Just need some suitable strappage. (the aether 70 has straps within it's lid for this purpose - as a shoulder bag or bumbag)

(I've just got an Exos58 myself. and used an Aether for 2 weeks last year)

I put my tickets/passport etc in a A4 size plastic wallet/folder (WH Smiths) in the front pocket of my Jam. Slides in and out as required.
