Not contactable...

I've been trying to contact Bob this week to ask about shipping costs for an OMM Villain but despite sending emails and trying to phone, there's been no response - the phone just goes to answerphone.  Are the staff still on holiday?  Can anyone shed some light on this?

Did you see the note on the homepage, which may explain the silence:

"If you place an order on or after the 6th Jan or over the weekend, please note there will be a slight delay in processing and shipping due to a few changes we are making to the site and general stock taking.

We apologize for the delay, however we need to do some important website maintenance and shop overhaul so we can continue to service you with more exciting goods and fantastic service.

Hopefully this will be a minor service delay and we will back on track in a few days.

Sorry once again and keep warm!

Bob and Rose 5/1/10"

I actually didn't see that, thanks for posting it, Gayle.  Surely they should answer the phone, shouldn't they?

Well... I know I wouldn't answer the phone if I was counting titanium tent pegs!

Fair comment, but surely they'd get an underling to do that?  Ah sod it, I'll try again tomorrow.

I'm not sure they have 'underlings' as such. Bob and Rose wear a lot of hats

Well you'd expect that... they deal in them!

I only have two or three hats... not enough in this cold weather!

Every company has underlings, even small, family ones.

As for the hats, I'm not even going to comment, Paddy...

Just seen this thread Colonel, and sorry we were unavailable to take your call.

Hopefully we've resolved it by now, as normal service has been resumed and we are no longer snowed in.

Underlings? Hah!! I wish

Just Rose and me and that's your lot.

But we do our best

I thought your underlings were your kid(s). Isn't that part of the fun of family run businesses is getting some use out of children?

BTW this thread has reminded me that I haven't bought a new stove or gadget lately, got any new design ones at BPL-UK Bob? Anyone us those mini gaiters BTW? I thought theyd be great for stopping the snow getting into my trail shoes.

Everything sorted now and the usual great customer service!  Nice one!

I have nothing but respect for backpackinglight.co.uk. There was no extra charge for delivery to Northern Ireland, the item was there within a day or 2 and Rose even called to check that I'd received it okay. Awesome in my book!

Yet more amazing customer service from BPL - my order was dispatched on Wednesday and I received it today.  Not bad you may think, but I live in Southern Ireland so that makes it all the more amazing!

Another commendation here: I placed two orders on successive days - Bob posted an extra-tempting cut-price offer on the web site while I was placing the first order, so I had a think overnight and decided to give in to temptation next day - hence two orders when one would have saved me postage! Each order arrived the morning after it was made.

Properly efficient, as we've come to expect.

Thanks to Rose & Bob
