Barkers of Ringwood

Found out the same myself when I dropped in earlier today

Barkers website now gives his old shop in Ringwood (<a href="http://www.roughgear.co.uk/t-contactus.aspx" title="Rough Gear">Rough Gear</a>) as contact and they seem to have a similar range of boot brands.

I've just spoken to RG, and they thought that Steve ceased trading around Xmas '12. I've one idea where he might now be, but think his boot fitting days might well over - I'll follow up and come back if I find more

Meanwhile I'd suggest RG for  new boots?

Don't take this as gospel, but I heard that he lost his Paramo franchise, so swapped to doing running gear instead. Unfortunately, I don't think that he was able to make enough to keep afloat.

It's a real shame. He was a top guy who really knew his stuff. It also means that there is nowhere local that stocks a decent range of Paramo gear.

He was a runner before the walking trekking side kicked in, so that makes sense

I  have a lead on a locally based trekking business that he may be associated with.
