If this question has been asked before I'm sorry.

Just bought a Rab summit Jacket. What's the best way to store it over the summer. Have asked Rab but haven't recieved a reply.

Preferably not stuffed in its sutffsack.  So, hanging on a broad coat hanger, or stuffed into a pillowcase somewhere dry and out of the sun (UV will degrade the shell fabric).

Thanks Captain:  I was thinking of hanging it in my wardrobe but didn't know if would cause the down to bunch up.

It will settle a little, but that's not a problem provided it's dry; it'll just fluff up again with a quick shake.

You should start posting on Windy, Cap'n.

Agree with CP, , I store all my down hanging up, jackets, sleeping bags, are hung up in either wardrobe or 'built in' wardrobe, depending on length.

Things like sleep mats, Exped Down, Synth. and TMR are stored 'flat' with valves open.

Only put into stuff sacs shortly before I'll use them. If not going to be used for a while, (a week or so), will take out of stuff sacs and 'store' as before.

If I hang my down jackets up I do so on one of my other half's skirt hangers - clip this to the lower hem of the jacket and then stuff the cuffs into the pockets.  Never any risk of down clumping in the shoulders.

I have also converted a couple of cotton duvet covers to go over them and keep dust off.

Keep them uncompressed, out of the light and dry.  Simples.

Hi James,

Regarding the clumping in the shoulders did it reloft after the jacket shaken out.

Cheers,

Stephen
