Jon - forwarded your message to me as an interesting idea. So I thought I'd drop you a quick response:
Firstly, I think putting the date up is a neat idea. All those classifieds are pretty current (see below) so showing the dates they were posted would look good I reckon. I've added the idea into our tech planning process - which guarantees it will get looked at - however there are a long list of things we are working on so please forgive us if it is a few months before we get around to making the improvement. As Jon says - ideas are always welcome and never ignored.
Secondly, the way the system works is that any advert is cleaned from the system and removed once it is two weeks old. The owner of the classified is sent an email telling them there ad has been removed but offering them the chance to click on a link and re-instate it for a further two weeks if they are indeed still trying to sell the item.
The principle was to keep the system clean of old ads. I guess it means we'll have less for sale in the system, but it does ensure things that are in there are genuine fresh produce!
