Clumping

So with it being hot and windy, I've been cleaning and airing my Alpkit Skyehigh, the main body of the bag is drying very well, although the hood is still sopping wet and the down has clumped. Will the clumping just dry itself out or do I have to start all over again? I have been air drying with a couple of 10 minute goes in the tumble on low heat.

Right now I have it in the tumble and taking it out every 10 minutes to air for a minute and then repeat

Thanks

When you take it out gently pull the worst of the clumps apart.

Back in the dryer and repeat, but add a couple of clean plimmies or tennis balls or something, which helps break the clumps in motion.  Back out in another few minutes and repeat.  Repeat again.  And again.  And again...

... Continue until (a) finished and (b) utterly convinced it's worth having it cleaned by the pros next time...

Pete.

Cleaning down...my options in ascending order

Do it myself - only if hell went cold first

Take it to be drycleaned (Morrisons do a fantastic price for down duvets/sleeping bags. Would I put a high end bag in there...ummm...have I stuck my Tesco special - you bet I did, but then it only cost me £17.

send it to a specialist cleaner.

Only option now..as Pete said, add the tennis balls and test your patience

I have the next 5 days off. At this rate I think it might take that long.

By about 10 last night it had pretty much sorted itself out, a good airing today should just finish it off and get it lofting nicely.
