Yeah right, I can't even get a connection from my sitting room half the time :-)
16/11/2001 at 15:01
But that's ok Maria, because presumably you know exactly where your sitting room is already.
16/11/2001 at 15:08
That's not what I've heard. Also, Maria, where's your piccy? Shouldn't you be flying the flag for www.surfmagic.co.uk by appearing in suitable surf chick stylee? Go on, you know you want to.

Anyway, you can't rely on technology. Don't ask how I know, but muse a moment on why the weekend weather forecast hasn't yet appeared...

/Rant on/

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh......

Ring tones on the hills as well as on the train, pub, cinema, blah, blah.....

What's wrong with a map & compass.

/Rant off/

Looks nice though.... pity people forget that electronic equipment (batteries, displays, etc...) really don't like the cold & wet. At least a map and compass is more "fail safe".

Also, if you've fallen & broken your ankle(s), as in "Scenario B", you're probably now lying in a place where you're not going to get a signal anyway!

16/11/2001 at 16:26
Unless she got it from Streetmap.co.uk where it puts her in Kilburn?

Hmm, every 100km you say. Is that why I can never find this week's TV guide?

Ah, another multiple livingroom owner.

Well, you see, us Londoners simply MUST have more than one you know. One simply can't manage with just the one couch.

Who says maps are more reliable

GPS's have less of a tendancy to blow away than maps... amd have you veen tried carrying a complete set of landrangers?

(before the map & compass lobby turn on me it wasnt a serious comment)

What happens when the batteries run out?

The coordinates of my house at uni are:
ST(082,890) the OS site also threw up this long figure any ideas as to what it is (308100, 189000)? and my home coordinates are:
17/11/2001 at 16:29
ST(787,674) (378700, 167400)
17/11/2001 at 19:02
the long figure is a full 12 figure grid reference.
if you look at the figure you give for your house at uni ie 082,890 and then look at the second, third and forth figures of the OS ref you'll see similarities, (your 2 in 082 should have been a one).
If you look in the corners of the appropriate OS map you'll see the first figure (3 and 1 respectively) these figures are not repeated along the edge of the map for clarity.
OK I know this sounds confusing, get a map and have a look its easier
