Spotted this earlier.

GE have come out with a 2.5 layer version of Event.

Westcomb have a full zip jacket coming in at just over 200g.

More info on the new 2.5 layer event fabric is available on a press release on the event fabric website www.eventfabric.com/press_release.php.

It looks like its event coming up with a fabric that is a "rival" to the Gore made lightweight active shell. It will be interesting to see if any UK firms like Rab or Montaine produce garments in the new version of event. Both companies have recently brought out lines of lightweight waterproofs using the Pertex Shield + 2.5 layer fabric. Will they now switch to the new event fabric?.

It will indeed be interesting to see if Montane or Rab start using it, I know Westcomb have a lightweight Neoshell jacket in the works.

Nah, Event was already the rival to Active shell (The net weights, cost etc seem to be very similar.).

I believe that this jacket will be made from the new fabric (haven't watched it because I'm at work)

Based on the link to the videos on the UK Climbing site provided by Dave Chick it looks like Rab have two new lightweight jackets comming out for the new season. One, the Viper in the new Event 2.5 fabric and the other the Myriad in a lightweight Neo Shell. No info on the videos as to weight or price but the Event jacket appears to have traditional "pit zips"!.

Well up on the main site here now They did already have a 2.5 layer, pertex shield+ jacket with pit zips this season so not a shock that they've done a 2.5 layer Event version.

Basically trading the 2.5 vs 3 layer thing for extra features at the same price/weight point I guess.
