hi,

2 years ago I bought some excellent gear from extreme outdoor clothing. Wanting to buy some more, I just find their site. Has this brilliant firm closed? that would be a pity!

I got an email from Keith last month so, as far as I know, they're still trading.

Sorry Yann, I've just checked my old brochure but there's no email address. But the website is working fine - I've just been on it right through to the catalogue pages.
And on it I can reach an order form to print, which includes a phone number...
0121 329 3788 or 07941 644328

Hopefully those are current.
Hope that helps.

Is K2 fleece like Karisma - the old ME stuff?
16/11/2005 at 22:29
Yes Colin, pretty much identical. Much more tightly woven than standard fleece and near-windproof without any membrane or shell or liner. Probably a bit thicker than current 100-weight microfleeces.

Wow that Explorer fleece looks top notch.

Yann, I'll dig the email out for you. It's on the "new" catalogue which can still be requested online if that helps?

Neil, I'm planning on getting the Explorer :o)

Be advised tho', when I got my catalogue, there's a bit in it about K2 fleece being discontinued in the near future!!!

I'm not discounting K2's windproof abilities, however when i tried it a few years back (it was actually an ME Ultrafleece jacket, is it the same stuff?)
i didnt like it, it felt too much like cheap market fleece to me, and even now i dont think it was as warm as say Polartec WindPro. I think WindPro is slightly more softer and bobbly which gives it more warmth.
However the explorer still looks a very useful jacket.

thanks a lot for giving me the phone number. dunno why I just cannot open the site!
I have an exploere myself and this is a great jacket. I only wonder why I chose not to take the hood when I ordered it...

The Extreme Outdoor clothing website seems to have gone down last week (it now says the site has been suspended - http://www.extremeoutdoorclothing.com/)

Anyone know what has happend or has the company gone bust??
14/02/2006 at 11:53
The website is still working for me!

I hope the company hasn't gone bust. I'm awaiting an order that must be due any time now.

Keith doesn't seem too good at answering his 'phone or emails though.

The site still works, but it seems if you try to make an order or send an e-mail the site is suspended.

Oh dear! I have a horrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

The cheque was cashed a couple of weeks ago, but still no goods so far.

Ah I have just got an email through from Keith saying there has been a couple of delays - and the site does seem to be uo and running again

<Sigh of relief>

Thank goodness I'd be lost without Extreme and made to measure.

I ordered trousers for the Cairngorms at the end of january. Gave Keith ludicrously short notice but he came through and even sent them to where I would be staying to make sure I got 'em in time.

My nether bits were ever so grateful up there in the snow.

I got through to him by telephone. Email didn't seem to work.

I ordered some 'capri style/3 quarter' (hold yourselves back) Rangers and they arrived unfinished re. length (as agreed with Keith on the mobile).

It took two months to get them.

They do tend to 'pull' down on hills as they do not have 'stretch knee panels' (which to be fair they are not advertised as having in any way). So I think they need to be cut higher at the back - or one might need braces?

All in all; unimpressed so far.

I reserve judgement for fouler conditions - should they ever (wistful, arrive)...
