Opinions please, especially as to whether they would be suitable as a replacement pole for the SL3 shelters?

Cheers...

If anyone with a blog has used them, and says they are good, they must be feckin brilliant.

I'd prefer to trust the uprightiness of the SL3 to a Viagra

How can you sleep in a tent 4" from the ground?

Precisely.

That's how high it will be if you use those toothpicks in a hoolie

Don't see why not. (Being made of aluminium rather than carbon as some of  those bonks on the Windy thread seem to think)

But I'd get em here rather than Khatmandu

I've been using them for 12 months now....  feckin' brilliant, proper poles, and no need to carry anything heavier

I don't have a blog, but I did first hear about them from a man who does.

How are they at holding up the SL3 in a blow, Matt?
22/01/2011 at 21:20

No idea, why would I want to hold up an SL3 that I don't have?

But since they do everything else that heavier poles do as far as walking goes, I really don't see why they shouldn't be just fine.

good point. Probably ok.

I overlap the ends of my poles quite a way and lash them together  -  possibly a stronger way of doing it than a single joiner inside the poles with the end sections removed?

Cheers for the link Mole but you can get them for £49 a pair plus a £24 freebie in Kathmandu's 3 for 2 promo at the moment!

Can the Compact's pole sections be joined together to make a longer pole? I know you can do this with the Super Compacts, but don't know about the Compacts.

I've just taken mine out for a walk this weekend Porky; they would be fine to hold up the SL3 as others have said.

Did you use them for the SL3 Ed? If so what did you use to join them together?

I had a look at BPL Bob's joiner thing but I'm fairly sure I could find some Ali tube from some where...

Tube won't work with Fizans unless you add the locky bits...

Not with the HEX....I have a fabric Black Diamond pole joiner thingy if you want it (for a small consideration of course)...

I was thinking of removing the handle section and finding tube of the correct inside diameter for the locky bits to work.

I shall bear the BD thingy in mind though.

don't need tube joiner - the black diamond thingy (or DIY like mine -posted today on the hex thread - 27g) means you don't need to take the pole apart. Probably stronger 2 as the poles are double up in the centre. I managed for lot'a of nights with just paracord and velcro.

So the Compact poles won't screw together without a joiner like the Super Compacts?
24/01/2011 at 14:05

Just got some Fizans, they seem good enough, but they weigh 36g. per pair more than

 the 138g. each. stated  . ......  what's new?
