Last year my old petzl tikka died it was replaced with a alpkit one which I was pretty impressed with until I killed it, but as I use them outside in all weathers I really need a replacement that is waterproof for use in more than a light shower, can any one suggest a headlight that is bright with a decent reach on high beam, that the batteries will last a reasonable time and is also waterproof?
Budget up to £100

Well if you liked a Petzl why not again a Petzl? They are great and trustworthy, different leds for differnt uses. I like the Tikka XP2. Simply because the bright far beam led handy when there is a need to see further and a dedicated red led for night vision. Also an indicator when battery goes empty.

The Black Diamond Storm is a very reliable torch with a good beam, and I think it's rated as waterproof rather than just splash proof.

As Zuma has said the Tikka XP2 is a brilliant headtourch. Love mine and the differnt features it has.

2 Beam strengths and sos flash

red light (think also has sos flash)

Slid on the front the give the beam a wider angle

Batter indicator

whistle on the strap

and waterproof (which it deffintly is as ive used it on a river on a night time white water kayaking trip).

While also being under half what your budget is so could pick up 2 and keep one as a spare.

I need a new torch after the failure of an Alpkit Gamma. Probably going for a Petzl Pixa (2 or 3) - AAs, tough, waterproof, no cables to come loose.

If you want a really cheap, but good head torch.

Check Ebay for Creed head torches, I got one for £6, posted.

Best head torch I've bought, I have Petzl's but hardly use anymore. Mostly just in summer as 'back up'.
