I came across a website describing a cross between a poncho and jacket (the packa: http://www.thepacka.com/) which is patented (which seemed impressive (or proves patent office will patent anything :) ))--
I didn't like the idea of the silnylon-ness or the closed in rucsac cover but:
This made me think, you're walking in your (TX10ed) windproof, it starts mizzling, you continue, it starts to rain heavily:
if you pull another heavier TX10ed windproof over the top of this (without removing pack: you've cut out most of the back cos your ruc sac covers it, secured lower rear sides with belt, the rear top froms roof over rucsac top,
the hood, arms front and sides remain as any normal jacket:
how waterproof are these two layers?
I suppose an expensive experiment would be to modify a proper Paramo rainproof as the above outer.
